Autofocus that benefit photography and videography

Dual Pixel Intelligent AFThe next generation autofocus technology that brings about significant improvements in subject detection and tracking in photography and videography.
Action Priority AFThis new autofocus tracking can recognise unique actions in soccer, basketball and volleyball. 
Register People PriorityRegister your subjects' faces in the camera to persistently track them even when their frontal view is not facing the camera. This AF tracking is particularly useful for shooting concerts, sports or scenes involving multiple people.
Cross-type AFCross-type AF enhances the EOS R1's ability to detect small subjects and those affected by horizontal patterns, such as players in striped uniforms or subjects behind a net.
Eye Control AFShift focus between multiple fast subjects using your eye movements as you look through the viewfinder. 

High-speed performance
Speed is vital for professional photographers who shoot fast-moving subjects such as birds or team sports. Experience high-speed performance such as up to 40 fps, blackout-free shooting and pre-continuous shooting.  

Superior image quality
The newly developed full-frame back-illuminated stacked CMOS sensor delivers a resolution of up to 24 megapixels and an ISO speed of up to 102400. This combination provides outstanding image quality, allowing you to capture impressive details even in dimly lit situations, or handheld night shots with minimal camera shake.

In-camera UpscalingUsing deep learning technology, the EOS R1 can upscale your JPEG or HEIF files by doubling the number of pixels vertically and horizontally from 24 megapixels to approx. 96 megapixels.
Neural Network Noise ReductionNeural Network Noise Reduction generates images with reduced noise when processing RAW images within the camera, giving you sharp images. This is especially useful when taking night shots at high ISO speeds.
In-Body Image StabilizationThe built-in 5-axis in-body image stabiliser reduces blur from camera shake even when using a lens without an optical IS (OIS) system.

Movie capabilities
As videos become increasingly important in complementing stills content, the EOS R1 has incorporated workflows and features of Cinema EOS. EEquipped with a suite of pro-level videography features, you can now produce quality videos with a non-cinema EOS camera.
