Packed with a variety of features and the option of attaching an external viewfinder (EVF), this new camera boasts DSLR-like performance in a compact body, topped with a stylish design reminiscent of vintage cameras. Compact but packed with powerful features, the EOS M6 is equipped with a 24.2-effective megapixel APS-C sensor and the DIGIC 7 image processor, with the option of attaching an external electronic viewfinder (EVF). It supports ISO speed 100 – 25600, and the body design is reminiscent of vintage cameras, with three colour options—white, black and silver. Operational controls such as the power on/off lever and Quick Control Dial are on the right-hand side on the EOS M6, with the built-in flash positioned on the left-hand side.
The EOS M6 is available in the body alone, as well as in two kits, one with the EF-M15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM and the other with the EF-M18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM.

The EOS M6 uses Dual Pixel CMOS AF for Live View shooting, wherein each individual pixel acts as a phase difference detection AF sensor. The Smooth zone AF mode, which enhances focusing on moving subjects over a larger area, is also available.

Continuous shooting speed can be carried out at up to approximately 7 frames per second (fps) with AF tracking, and up to approximately 9 fps with AF lock. The LCD monitor is a 3.0-type with 1.04 million dots, and can be tilted up to 180 degrees upwards and 45 degrees downwards. Movie shooting can be carried out at up to 1,920×1,080 in Full HD 50p/60p.
The EOS M6 is equipped with a tilting monitor and a built-in pop-up internal flash unit.

Pairing with smart devices is also more convenient than before with support for Bluetooth low energy technology and Wi-Fi/NFC.
The EOS M6 uses battery pack LP-E17, and can take approximately 295 shots in one charge. Its external dimensions are 112 × 68 × 44.5mm, and it weighs approximately 390g (including battery pack and memory cards) and approximately 343g (body only).
The new external electronic viewfinder, EVF-DC2 (sold separately) is around 70% lighter than the existing model, EVF-DC1, sold concurrently. It uses a 0.39-type OLED screen with approximately 2.36 million dots, and omits the tilting construction.
